Patoka is our Alaskan Malamute, the third we have owned. They are very gentle, wonderful house dogs even though they are big! She is 99 lbs., which is quite large for a female.  We got Patoka when she was 8 weeks old from a couple in Indiana who lived near Patoka Lake - thus her name! See how cute she was as a puppy.  Patoka is the one in charge, always keeping her sisters in line, and checking to see if they left her any morsels in their food bowl!   Her best talent is her howling. When she starts, everyone joins in and it is LOUD!
A tragedy occurred in October, 1999 with our dear Patoka.  We miss her so much.   See our tribute to her at this site.

Autumn is our little mixed breed that we found as a stray while camping in 1994.  She was in terrible shape when we found her, but is a tenacious little dog, and survived her time in the wild.  She is definitely the most spoiled and knows how to get whatever she wants!  One look at that sweet face, and your heart melts!  She is also the hunter of our pack, always looking for the squirrels and for that little mouse that lives under the deck.  Strays really make great pets because they appreciate you so much. That is certainly true for Autumn. She is very loyal and loving.  See more of her here.

Snowy followed Ted home while he was walking Patoka and Autumn in December of 1997.  She is another stray that came into our hearts and into our pack.  She appears to have many Malamute traits, plus some German Shepherd to give her that long face! She is a wonderfully gentle dog and is slowly getting over her fear of abandonment.  Snowy loves to talk (especially when you are on the phone!), and can get Patoka and Autumn howling in a matter of seconds.  More of Snowy.
